The Power of Community
At BHS, we believe in the power of our community. Our experienced teachers and staff work together to empower each and every student to fulfill their potential. Going above and beyond, every day, the staff at BHS are passionate educators who believe in our Mission of providing the best educational experience for girls in Bermuda.
There are 67 teaching staff at BHS; 57 females, and 10 males. Their nationalities represent Bermuda, Canada, the USA, the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Turkey, and Kenya.

Head of School, Carol Swainson
Carol Swainson, Head of School
Ms. Swainson has over 20 years’ experience as an administrator in K-12 Independent Schools. She most recently served as the founding Head of School for San Francisco Schoolhouse, where she consistently increased enrollment and retention.
She has taught nearly every discipline from grades three to adult. As an accomplished educational leader, Ms. Swainson has also promoted faculty development and leadership within her schools, served on the Community, Teaching, Learning, Primary and Secondary Committees for evaluation and accreditation teams for independent schools, and facilitated presentations and workshops at national conferences.
Ms. Swainson holds a Masters of Education in Social Foundations in Education and a Bachelor of Arts in French and Spanish Languages from the University of Virginia. With a background in the Arts, Ms. Swainson is an amateur oboist, composer and filmmaker. She has also served on the board of two independent schools.
Head of Secondary, Deputy Head of School, Catherine Hollingsworth
Catherine Hollingsworth
Catherine has over 30 years of teaching, lecturing and leadership experience in both the UK and Dubai. With previous experience in both mixed and all-girls' schools, she has a real understanding for the benefits of all-girls' learning. Her individualised approach to innovative curriculum and learning drives her to ensure that each and every child has a programme that allows them to gain success.
Catherine has an Honours Bachelor degree in Physical Education and Mathematics from the University of Gloucestershire. She played netball at the national level, and is never happier than when working with various netball teams and teaching Physical Education. The pleasure she gets from students’ success, on either the sports field or in the classroom, is evident.
Head of Primary, Tracy Renaud
Tracy Renaud
Mrs. Renaud has over 25 years of experience in education, as a classroom teacher and as an administrator. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Queen's University, Ontario, Canada and a Master’s of Science Honours Degree in Elementary Teaching from the State University of New York. With a strong passion for education and a belief in leading by inspiring educators, Mrs. Renaud completed a National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH) from the National College for Teaching and Leadership in the UK. During the course of her career, she has taught Primary Years 2 to 6 and has held a variety of leadership positions; such as Deputy Head of Lower Primary (EYP- Year 2), Deputy Head of Upper Primary (Years 3 to Year 6) and Director of Upper Primary (Years 3 to Year 6). Mrs. Renaud's advanced leadership qualifications and experience, her passion for teaching and learning and her unbridled enthusiasm for the Primary Years have prepared her well for her role as Head of Primary (Years EYP to 6). Mrs. Renaud is deeply honoured and grateful to be a member of the BHS family and she is committed to working collaboratively with all stakeholders and fostering an environment where all of our girls are valued and encouraged to reach their own academic potential.

Sarah Wheddon
Sarah Wheddon has worked at BHS since 2004 and has taught English to students from Years 7 to Y13. Additionally, she has served in the following leadership roles at BHS: Head of Year 7, Head of Year 11 and Head of Upper Years.
Sarah is a hard-working, effective, talented, caring and student-centered educator. She leads by example and has consistently demonstrated that she is an outstanding leader with high professional standards. She is well-respected by BHS stakeholders: students, parents and teachers.
