Senior Years Programme

Senior Years Programme at BHS

The SYP at BHS offers a co-educational, two-year programme which prepares students for university. It is more than a qualification - it encompasses an educational vision which ensures that BHS graduates not only gain places in the university of their choice but become critical thinkers and life-long learners.

From September 2023, BHS will offer A Levels and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. To learn more CLICK HERE

Curriculum

The SYP at BHS is a two year programme which offers two pathways for students; the IB Diploma Programme or A Levels. For the IB Diploma Programme, students can choose six subjects (three at Standard Level, three at Higher Level).  They also must complete three core components; the Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge and CAS (Community, Action, Service). For A Levels, students choose 3 or 4 subjects.

Life in SYP

Housed in the Renaissance IB Centre, IB students have a real sense of independence and freedom. Small classes create a "community college" feel and the common rooms provide a comfortable place to socialise, re-charge and study. Students and teachers share a more mature relationship and the personalised approach to each students' learning and onward journey is valued by students and parents alike.

Enrichment in SYP

As we prepare students to leave BHS, we give them as many opportunities as we can to learn from successful community mentors and explore their passions and discover their purpose.

She Leads

Female students in Year 12 have the unique opportunity to benefit from the SHE LEADS: A Real World Readiness Programme which runs in the summer before they enter their final year. This ground-breaking public/private partnership, sponsored by HSBC, provides guided workshops, inspiring speakers and personal reflection. Through guided workshops, inspiring speakers and personal reflection, it provides a safe place for them to take risks, and build their confidence and skill sets.

Pastoral Support

Our staff have decades of experience guiding students through this period, and with their support, each student is able to define their version of success and reach their goal. Graduates speak about the safe and supportive environment that is created with teachers who are approachable and they are grateful for the close personal connections which are formed.

University Planning

100% of BHS graduates go on to tertiary education. We provide a personalised approach to each student's search and provide help with college applications, offer advice on financial aid and scholarships, and welcome college admissions officers for virtual and in-person workshops. Each year, students travel to Canada to visit some of the most popular universities.
