Linda Parker has over 37 years of experience in education as a Secondary classroom teacher and an educational leader. In 2003, Linda returned to her alma mater, BHS, as Head of Secondary and in 2007, she was appointed Head of The Bermuda High School for Girls. Linda is passionate about BHS and honoured to give back to the school where she thrived as a student for 13 years. She believes that it is important to respect the School’s tradition of academic excellence while at the same time move forward with progressive teaching and learning that recognises the unique abilities of each girl. After teaching and leading in mixed gender schools for 20 years, Linda is a strong believer in single sex education for girls. She can attest that at BHS, girls confidently lead the way on the stage, in the classroom, on the Sports’ field, in the Science/Computer lab and in the Maker Space. Girls are focused in their learning and their leadership skills are honed from a young age. Linda believes that every girl has great potential and it is the responsibility of the school and the home to work closely together to support and nurture that potential. Linda holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and French and a Bachelor of Education from Queen’s University, Ontario, Canada. Additionally, she has a Masters of Education degree in Secondary and Tertiary Education from The University of Exeter, UK. As a classroom teacher, Linda taught Secondary English, Civics and French in Bermuda’s public school system and at BHS. For several years, she has also taught a Master’s level course in Leadership to local teachers through Endicott College. Linda held a wide variety of leadership posts during her 20 year tenure in the local public school system: Head of English, Head of the Arts, Staff Development Leader, BSSC Coordinator for Language Arts in Bermuda and Deputy Principal. Catherine has an Honours Bachelor degree in Physical Education and Mathematics from the University of Gloucestershire.
