As a school with the Mission to educate young women to the highest international standards, it is important for us to compete on a global scale. Not only are we an International Baccalaureate School, and a Global Round Square Member, but we are also accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS), the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) and are a member of the International Coalition of Girls' Schools (ICGS). These associations ensure that we provide the best education to our students.
In November, 2014 BHS received accreditation by the Council of International Schools, joining over 400 schools worldwide. Schools that are CIS accredited have demonstrated their dedication to providing a high quality education in an international context. They demonstrate a commitment to inspiring excellence in their students as well as developing the whole individual. They also foster, and model, self-evaluation and self-improvement. Colleges and universities worldwide acknowledge that CIS Accredited schools develop the standards and the qualities they seek in their students.
In his congratulatory letter to the school’s management team, Dr. Graham Ranger (Director of School Support & Evaluation with the Council of International Schools) commented,
In the classroom, the Visiting Team noted the level of commitment among the faculty and staff to the students, highlighted by a strong sense of pride and accomplishment that is palpable at BHS.
In June 2015, The Bermuda High School received accreditation by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC), joining many prestigious American schools such as Phillips Exeter Academy, The Hotchkiss School, Ethel Walker, Deerfield Academy, St. Andrew’s School and Miss Porter’s School.
Accreditation by NEASC indicates that the member school has achieved high standards of professional performance and is committed to continuing improvement. In the final report, specific strengths highlighted included the teachers’ ongoing nurturing of their students, the students’ impressive demeanour, the school's celebration of student effort and success, the school's active role in supporting many community initiatives, and the effective programmes and activities which complement the formal curriculum in support of the BHS Guiding Statements. The Visiting Team commented on the
enthusiastic student engagement and the joy of learning that was evident in the classrooms.
