BHS Primary Girls Win Seven-a-Side
Our Primary soccer team competed
against 16 other Primary schools and won the entire
tournament! See the team

Round Square Trip to India
Seven students travelled with Tina Nash and Tina Harris to India in October to attend the
Round Square International Conference. The theme of the conference was “The World is
One Family.” Read More

PartnerRe 5K Walk/Run
BHS had more participants than any other school in the annual PartnerRe 5K Walk/Run.
As a result we were awarded $500 by PartnerRe, which our girls donated to Bermuda Cancer
and Health Association. See Photo

Math Science Week
The 11th annual Math Science week was held in early November. With the theme of ab astra
(into space), Secondary students participated in activities that allowed them to apply their
knowledge and skills to complex problem solving. Hastings House received the Maths Science
Week Shield for 2007. Read More

Visit by Diane Kirwin
Diane Kirwin, an Old Girl at BHS, has established the Diane Kirwin Foundation which focuses
on improving the lives of severely impoverished people in the Bihar State, Northern India. Mrs
Kirwin was an assembly guest speaker in October. Read More

Megan Pearson and Chelsea Lawley Receive Young Citizen’s Awards
Megan Pearson (Year 6) and Chelsea Lawley (Year 10) received Young Citizen Awards from the
Minister of Social Rehabilitation the Honourable Dale Butler JP MP. Megan and Chelsea were
chosen because of the thoughtful, kind and humanitarian qualities they exhibit on a regular basis.

BHS Team Wins the Senior Division of the Inter School Debate Competition
BHS had two teams entered in the annual competition which is organized by The Bermuda
Debate Society and the Bermuda Junior Service League. The “A” Team of Sasha Slayton, Luisa
Olander and Aliyyah Ahad won the Senior division. Individual debate prizes were won by Aliyyah
Ahad (2nd place) and Nikki Marshall (5th place). See Photo

You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown
Under the able direction of Jane Hammond Thorpe and Kate Ross, Secondary students
presented the popular musical You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown. Over its thre-night run,
hundreds of students, relatives and friends of BHS were captivated by the impressive
performances
of the cast and their understudies, all of whom met the acting, singing, and
dancing demands
of this production with professional aplomb. Read More

Art Auction Is a Hit!
Just over $37,000 was raised during the Art Auction organized by the BHS Alumnae
Association.
Art was donated by alumnae and friends of the school. Funds raised will go
towards scholarships
and arts programmes at BHS. This event was linked with the Primary
Art Open House
showcasing future generations of BHS Alumnae artist. See Photo

Bank of Bermuda Foundation Team Triathlon
Two BHS teams – Purity and Strength – featuring student, teacher and administration
teammates placed 2nd and 4th respectively in the Bank of Bermuda Foundation Service Division
Team Triathlon. Eight service teams participated in this division. See Photos

Fiesta de Comida

Mr. Lewis' Year 9 Spanish class recently enjoyed a "Fiesta de Comida" to celebrate the end of their latest topic.
Many dishes were prepared by students as well as parents, and included paella, tortilla española, fajitas
and gazpacho andaluz.
